The Skyscan Balloon Camera Collection
The Skyscan Archive, is a collection of over 120,000 colour aerial photographs of
the UK captured initially from a unique balloon borne camera in the pre-drone age. The tethered balloon had the advantage of being a vibration free and highly manoeuvrable aerial platform allowing high resolution film to be used and unusually low level aerial camera angles to be achieved.
From the early 2000's onwards drones, masts and other aircraft were used as aerial cameras continuing to grow the archive in the new digital age.
